This

Patrimony of Mankind will transport you from the modern
cosmopolitan Quito to Colonial Quito with its bustling narrow
cobblestone streets. The days visit will include great scenic
lookouts, famous colonial cathedrals, governmental buildings
and interesting museums. Your tour will include most of
the following sites: El Panecillo, Congress, the Square
of Independence, various museums and the Cathedrals of San
Francisco, San Agustin, Santo Domingo, La Basilica, La Compañia
and Guapulo. Portions of the tour will be done by foot.
Return
to hotel 12:00-1:00.

30 minutes north of Quito, we will come across the Equator
line, latitude 0º, where you can put one foot on each
hemisphere. The visit also includes the Pululahua Volcano
lookout, the ethnographic museum, the "hands on" Inti Raymi
museum and the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo, which is a replica
of a colonial town with its main plaza, church and bullfighting
ring. You will also have free time to stroll amongst the
many handicrafts shops.
Return

to the Northern Hemisphere. The days visit will include great

until we come across the Equator line, latitude 0º, where

Market
day! Only 2 hours north, Otavalo is considered one of the
most important indigenous market in South America. The day
will start with a drive through dramatic Andean landscapes.
On this exciting trip, not only will you have the chance
to practice your bartering skills in the colorful Otavalo
market, but you will also visit families as they proudly
make their weavings and other products. A visit will also
be done to the Cuicocha crater lake and the San Pablo lagoon.
Afternoon return to Quito.

Two
hours from Quito is the popular Cotopaxi National Park,
home to the highest active volcano in the world. Here you'll
have a chance to visit the refuge hut (4,800m / 15,400ft),
glaciers and the Limpiopungo lake. This park is great for
nature lovers, since there is a good chance to see llamas,
wild horses, deer, rabbits among other species. Limpiopungo
lake is a great place to see birds such as the Andean gull,
ducks, hummingbirds, caracaras and even Condors. Within
the park there are two other impressive rock peaks, RumiNahui
and Sinchulahua. A clear day will give you a memorable day.
